Movies and magic. (All years)

Idella was feeling a bit more confident this year, she'd attended a few Muggle conventions near the end of last year to brush up on everything that had been going on in their world. Partly she had left a bit early because she felt she hadnt' quite gelled well with the other staff, sure she liked them and she didn't have any enemies amongst them but she couldn't say for sure they were friends. ah well perhaps this year she could actually chaperone a trip to Hogsmead and get to know some more adult witches and wizards.

She set her classroom up so the desks were in two rows with the chairs facing each other so she could walk up and down between them and interact with all her students. On every desk there say one small video camera and a regular disposable camera like one would find in a tourist shop or in an airport. On the board was written up a breakdown of the assignment she'd set the students.

Aim: To gain practical experience with muggle technology
Method: By using muggle devices to make short movie clips for the end of the year.

Today: Using muggle cameras.

Happy with her work Idella opened the doors to let in her first students of the year.

Tristan wasn't sure if he'd enjoy this subject, but he had told himself he'd take all the classes until he could figure out what he actually enjoyed. Walking into the classroom, he muttered another greeting to yet another Professor and took a seat randomly. Looking up at the board, he noted the words and turned his attention to the foreign objects on the table.

Picking one of them up, he turned it in his hands, frowning. How was he suppose to use one of these things? Letting it drop back down onto the table, he leaned back in the chair. Honestly, he was starting to regret taking this class.

'Muggle Studies' the idea of taking the class had always been laughable to JC, it wouldn't even really be fair to other people now would it. I mean the things they were learning would be new to most of the other students...to JC it would be like second nature. But with the pressure from his father to raise his grades he figured a bit of fluff from a class he knew he could ace would go a long way. And what better class for the boy that grown up a muggle, than muggle studies. So he walked into the class and looked around smirking a little at the lesson. 'Yup, cake walk. He thought to himself as he took a seat near the front. He gave a nod to Josh and a friendly wave in the direction of the younger boy he couldn't remember if he'd ever seen or not as he awaited the start of the lesson.

Louise though not really seeing why she needed to take this class was told that good grades were expected in as many different classes as possible, which is how she found herself in the muggle studies class. she was surprised to see all Slytherins in the room and took a seat as far from Josh as she could possibly get without taking over the teacher's desk. so she sat at the end of one of them and waited patiently for the lesson to begin or for other students to arrive. She wondered why Josh was even taking this class, she was under the impression he hated anything muggle. She looked at the cameras in front of her and examined the video recorder, opening up the side panel and looking at all the settings and checking how clear the images were on the small screen.

October had debated whether to come back and do the whole Muggle Studies thing and last minute decided she would just to get it out of the way. It was her last year and she was going to try her best to get her house some decent points, but then again she really didn't know why she tried, Hufflepuff didn't really stand a chance. When she got there, she saw all Slytherins in the class and just ignored it. October didn't like starting trouble with anyone which is why she never started rumors and what not.

Idella smiled as a few students made their way into the room and took their seats an waved to each of them. "Glad to see some new faces, and Mister Murray back again." She grinned at the stoic boy, she couldn't say she liked him much but she was glad he wasn't a trouble maker at least. She teased then checked her register to see who they were waiting for. "Feel free to have a look at the devices in front of you till everyone else turns up then we shall begin." She noticed some had looked like they wanted to take a closer look at the cameras and one was handling it like she had done so before, but she didn't comment.

She looked up again when a seventh year walked in. "Welcome. Have a seat Miss Faileng, I think Miss Grey looks too happy there by herself." She grinned, letting the girls know she was just teasing.

Mavis had seen a Hufflepuff walk into the Muggle Studies classroom and she stood by the door highly amused at the woman standing up at the front teaching. The Slytherin girl rolled her eyes and took an empty seat by herself. Mavis wasn't one for being near people, especially ones that she thought would talk to her, Mavis sat there looking at the Professor wondering if she was nuts or insane for wanting to teach this subject.

Stacy did grow up around muggle stuff so basically she knew much about this subject but she still decided take it when she saw it in her timetable. She may even learn few new things here. She knew there were people who didn't really enjoy this class but she wasn't really one of them. She soon walked into the classroom and saw here few people. She greeted the professor and sat some where middle of the classroom once again.

"Feel free to have a look at the devices in front of you till everyone else turns up then we shall begin."

Once again picking up an object from the desk, he turned it around. Recognizing, from some muggle artifacts from his new home, a 'power on/off' sign next to one of the buttons on this thing, he pressed it. He jumped when a round thing popped out from one of the ends. Maybe he was supposed to look through this round part?

Bringing it close to his face, he tried to peer into it, seeing nothing but black. Giving up, he put it back down onto the table. Muggle studies was not something he enjoyed, he decided there and then.

Joe hurried into his muggle studies classroom, head bent low as he pushed himself down into a seat. This year he refused to arrive late to any of his lessons, absolutely hell bent on doing his best. His eyes flittered to the objects before him and the smallest of smiles fell onto his face. Joe liked cameras. Joe understood cameras. But the problem with Joe knowing and understanding something often meant that someone else knew and understood said thing as well, and the face behind that was more often than not Joshua Murray.

He picked one up, turning it over in his fingers oh-so delicately so as not to drop it. In his muggle primary school, he'd had a small photography assignment and had gotten the highest grade in the class for the piece of work. He didn't understand quite how, but Joe found the most bizarrely beautiful things in the most obscure places. Where most other people had produced nature works of animals, the Hufflepuff had taken the opproach of animals for his project.

The boy placed it back down on his desk and looked up, not daring to see who else was in the classroom with him. Instead, he focused on himself, trying to remember everything he could about the subject of cameras so he could maybe feel a bit better by answering something.

Carly walked into class and took her seat smiling at the professor. "Hello Miss" She said then pushed her hair out of her eyes, waiting for class to begin as she thought of what this year may hold for her. She looked around not knowing any one here. Then again she didn't really know anyone here at all since she was always by herself. She looked down at her desk sighing a bit. She waited for the class to begin.

The only reason Violet took the subject was because of the easy marks. She knew she'd ace it, due to actually growing up with muggles. So this class would be a breeze. All she needed was to know what subjects the test would be on, and remember the precise details of how electronics were built and things like that. Which was simple, because she knew most of how things worked.

She walked into the classroom and took a seat up the back, dropping her bag on the floor, not acknowledging anyone, as per usual.

Being a half-blood, Tash had some knowledge of muggle technology, and muggle things. Though, she thought it would be nice to take the class, as something she could get very good results in, and to learn about technology in far more depth. She found it interesting. She walked into the classroom, making sure to greet the teacher before she took her seat.

Cassidy had decided on taking Muggle Studies so that she had a better chance of getting some higher grades, seeing as her grades were getting critical now. Not only that, she was also curious as to the details of muggle technology. She could use it, but she had no clue about how it worked.
She hurried to class and took her seat quickly, seeing other people already there.

Skye walked into class excited, his family lived half in the muggle world, half in the wizard. This class would be easy and fun.
"Hello" he said quietly to the professor, and seeing all the students, Skye scanned for familiar faces. Joe Skye thought, his savior from last year. Skye shyly slid into a seat next to him and focused on the camera infront of him. His hair turning slightly red as he blushed, Skye picked up the camera.

With the teacher's permission JC picked up the camera and started snapping shots of random things. It started off as just rapidly clicking through the film, he even flipped the camera around and stuck out his tongue to take a selfie. That's when the idea hit him. The people in this class were entirely too quiet, while they awaited the professor's instructions he decided to amuse himself.

Camera in hand he turned around in his seat and scoped the room out,. Smoothly he stood to his feet and walked over to the nearest person. "Smile pretty and pose for the camera?" Beforw waiting for an answer he snapped a picture and moved onto the next, laughing joking the whole time

Skye smiled at the camera the older boy pointed at him. His hair was real and his eyes blue. After the pic Skye picked up his own and took three pictures of the Slytherin before turning to Joe and taking one.
Skye giggled, "smile!" He said as he aimed it at the older Hufflepuff.

Idella was so glad to see her class looking so full for a change and let the students play with the devices and grinned seeing Mister Windsor taking pictures of a young Hufflepuff. "Glad to see so many of you here today. Right if anyone else turns up I'm sure you can all fill them in. So without further ado let's begin." She picked up one of the devices, the plain disposable camera. "I assume most if not all of you know what this is, Wizards have their own cameras of course but muggles have compacted the technology into smaller devices over the years and unlike wizard pictures these cameras only capture a still image, one moment frozen in time. So they need to be careful with the pictures they take, not that they are but it's fun to think of it that way. Simple enough to use as Mister Windsor is demonstrating." She smiled at the Slytherin. "So for the first half of the class you may take pictures of each other, I encourage posing but please keep it clean because I will be getting the pictures developed for you and I do not want to explain to the developer any awkward shots. No wands or magic in them either if you can avoid it, though it will be easier to explain as special effects." She walked around the tables and offered to show those less familiar with the cameras what to do with them and winding the film back when they found they couldn't take another picture after the first.

Louise tried to ignore Professor Birral's jest at her expense and picked up the disposable after putting the video camera down and looked up after a flash caught her eye in time to see Josh drop his. She smirked but said nothing and took her camera to the window looking over the grounds, she brought the camera up, looking through the view finder and snapping a shot of students walking over the lawns, probably to care of magical creatures or to the greenhouses. She smiled then and looked for something else to take a picture of.

"Always happy to demonstrate Professor, " Jacoby said with a bow and a grin before bouncing up to his feet to hear the rest of the lesson. He barely supressed a chuckled when he witnessed Josh being startled by the flash. It was an amusing sight, but Jacoby kept his composure and walked over to the pair of Hufflepuffs in the room. "You guys mind getting together and posing for me?" He asked while he ran his hands through his hair.

Skye looked at te older boy. Deciding that flirting shamelessly would be the best plan of action.
"You can take any pictures you want!" Skye winked and gave a dimpled grin while changing his hair to turquoise tips and posing a few of his different model styles.

Picking up his own camera Skye turned to the Slytherin,
"Let me take a few pics of you! I feel like we need some good music to pose to, y'know?" Another dimpled smile.

Cassidy knew what a disposable camera was. She'd used them before. She picked up one of the camera's and looked through the lens. It had been a very long time since she'd used one of these, because she usually used more advanced digital cameras. Though it was fun using a disposable camera, her only problem was she couldn't see the pictures she had already taken. She looked around the classroom, through her camera, and snapped a couple of random pictures.
