The Revulsion Jinx and The Reductor Curse

Excited wasn't the word. Sure, figuring out her schedule between the schools had been a little tricky, and fitting Angelo into the timing as well hadn't proved easy but the Norwegian had managed it. She had set the room up in her usual arena-style; a semi-circle of desks and chairs surrounding a wide open space for practicing. It was a little smaller than the one at Salem but the part Veela thought she had managed to make it feel just as spacious.

She wore a form fitting, black dress for the day and had her hair swept up into a neat bun atop of her head. Her heels weren't too high, she could confidently walk around in them and she could even run if she needed to, but she didn't think she wuld have to. The witch hummed softly to herself as she watched the door, waiting to see what selection of children she would have the pleasure of teaching.

She hoped they would like her, but more importantly she hoped they would be nice to her. By all accounts, Lucelia was still rather new to teaching and there had been a few bumps in the road thus far. On the board behind her was her name, written in cursive as always, and duelling written beneath that in block capitals. The curtains had been lifted and sunlight streamed in through the windows, giving an almost heavenly glow around the brunette.

With the news of another professor at the school, Josh wasn't overly keen on the idea, still there couldn't be too much worse than the blood traitor that currently held the position. Moving in to the classroom, Josh took the seat in the centre of the room, not acknowledging the professor as he took the books out for the lesson.

Now it was just a waiting game for the rest of the students to come in.

The second the notice had gone up in the common room about Dueling class Louise had made a note of the date and happily prepared for the lesson. She made her way through the halls to the classroom, not surprised seeing Josh there and took a seat on the right hand side of the room, looking eager but keeping up her appropriate mannerisms. She'd been taught well, she could still use some polishing but for a short amount of time she'd advanced pretty quickly, she thought so anyway.

Violet decided to take up duelling as a way for her to be destructive to other students, and not risk getting into as much trouble as she would if perhaps she did so randomly one day to another student. It allowed her practise. She made her way into the classroom, not acknowledging the other teacher as she took a seat up the back, waiting for the lesson to start.

Lucy genuinely enjoyed duelling. She knew it was a necessary skill, and was more than happy to attend duelling class. She walked into the room, without bothering to acknowledge any of the other students in the class, as she wasn't particularly close with them, and took a seat, readying herself for a (hopefully) wonderful lesson.

Cassidy was far better at practical work than with theory, and writing boring old essays and all that stuff. The one thing she felt she truly excelled was spell casting. So, it only made sense that she take a class that helped her further her skill even more. She walked into the class, smiling brightly and took her seat, ready to start.

It was Natasha's favourite thing, learning to cast spells. It was, of course, the most exciting thing of being a witch. They were the basis of everything, and defence spells, and learning how to duel, was one of the key things that was a 'must learn' aspect of witchcraft. Obviously she was going to learn to develop it. She made her way to the class, and upon seeing that a few people were already in the room, she hurried to her seat.

Alyson was back and ready to tackle on her next set of classes, the Gryffindor walked into Dueling and saw a lot of familiar faces, she was so used to seeing everyone's faces in Gryffindor and outside of Gryffindor. When she saw the Professor there she knew that in a way that this class was no joke and it never was but it was nice to know that all the classes had good lessons and there was always something new for her to learn. Alyson just waited for the class to begin.

Bryson was a little tired from staying up later then he usually does the night before, the Gryffindor boy was out patrolling the halls and when he heard something he had gone to chase after who/what it was and came across nothing. Bryson then decided to continue his nightly patrols before going to bed and now the boy is tired from it. He sighed and entered the Dueling classroom and waited to tackle down his day so that when he was finished classes, he could nap.

Ryan didn't really know much about Dueling only that it could save your life when needed to. He had been taken it for years and still would always come up blank on certain things. He wasn't used to having attention all on him which is why at times he'd show up but nothing would be said unless he really knew the answer and others didn't. The Gryffindor entered the classroom and saw some other students there either young, older, or his age. Ryan just had to wait for the lesson to begin.

Duelling was most definitely something Brooke looked forward to, and she was secretly glad that Tristan did not take this subject, or she would have to spend her time watching over him and not really learn much. Entering the class, she noted the gladiator like set up and smiled slightly, already intrigued. It looked like this class involved a lot of practical work, which she enjoyed, and she moved to the front of the seats, trying her best to ignore the sinking feeling in her stomach when she passed Josh.

"Morning, Professor," she said, smiling at the witch. She was significantly less worried knowing that her brother was not in the class, but the nagging feeling to be careful still persisted, and she leaned back, trying to focus on the subject at hand.

Kedzie of course was going to take this subject, who wouldn't? Not people who cared about their future, for the Ravenclaw she didn't want to die any time soon so this class would help her out with a lot of stuff so she can be prepared for anything. The twelve year old girl walked in and saw that this class was all combined like it usually is, it didn't freak her out like it did he previous year now that she is used to this type of thing. Kedzie just waited for the class to begin and gave the Professor a polite smile.

Shiva was excited for Dueling and happily walked into the room. It was still weird not seeing David around the school like she was used to when they started dating the previous year but she knew that he was out helping people... well learning how to since he was at the University. The dark haired girl didn't really have many friends so she just stayed to herself for the time being and waited for the class to begin.

After defence against the dark arts, Joe was nothing short of humilated about showing his face again. He'd wound up in the hospital wing, at first confused as to how but quickly remembering the situation. As soon as he had come face to face with a dementor, he'd completely passed out, coming round a while later with a banging headache.

But he was convinced he wouldn't give up. Not yet, anyway, he thought with an internal sigh as he sauntered into the furling classroom. So many familiar faces, and yet each felt so horribly far away from him... The Hufflepuff took a seat away from the group of students and stared down at the markings in his desk, waiting for the professor, who he hadn't given a glance, to say something.

Walking into Dueling she saw that the class was being combined with all the classes. October wasn't surprised at this so she just completely let it go for now. The Hufflepuff walked further into the room and stood off to the one side to make sure she was hardly noticed by people. The girl waited for the class to start, the faster it started the faster she could leave. It was kind of weird how October had no idea what she was going to be yet and this was her last year at the school.

Mavis didn't really see the whole point of this class, it was just a place that taught students who had no idea what they were doing how to use spells, well Mavis knew a lot of things. Her parents and brother all taught her how to do the spells correctly and she never failed in class because she knew what to do and how to do it. She really wanted to skip this damn class but it kept her from boredom sadly. The Slytherin girl walked in an stood away from the others.

PostSubject: Re: Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years   Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years EmptySun Jun 08, 2014 1:51 pm

Tough crowd was Lucelia's first thought as a few students filtered into the room, most of them not giving her a second look as they sat down. Still, she wouldn't let that put her off, seeing as it was still early hours of the morning and they would probably still be quite tired. "Good morning," she said brightly to the two Slytherins who came in first, closely followed by a Hufflepuff who for whatever reason sat away from the others. "Mister Murray, now there's a face I didn't expect to see in a long while. How have you been?" she asked, figuring he wouldn't remember her from the Ministry raid a fair few years back, but always being one to greet the people she remembered.

"Waters, Young, Stonem," she greeted the next three students after referring to the list of names and faces on her desk, the middle of whom smiling brightly in what Lucelia hoped was some form of excitement. The introduction to a new lesson on the schooling syllabus always had the witch herself feeling keen to give it a try, anyway. More and more of the children entered the room to the extent that the woman was quite impressed, greeting each individually before taking a space front and centre of the arena.

"Okay, I guess we'll start," she began, clearing her throat to get the attention of the people in the room. "Today, as you may or may not have noticed, we will be learning the Revulsion Jinx and the Reductor Curse. Can any of you give me any information on either of these two spells? Incantations, wand movements, anything you can remember. One answer each, please," she requested, eager to find out who the bookish ones were.

"Mister Murray, now there's a face I didn't expect to see in a long while. How have you been?"

As the witch acknowledged him from many years ago, Josh remained unmoved. Perhaps she felt she could get to know her class better if she interacted with them in a manner not completely teacher-student, but Josh had no interest in acknowledging her. Instead, he remained silent, watching the class fill up with little and less interest.

At the question on the spells noted at the front of the class, Josh didn't bother to raise his hand before he spoke, same as always. "The incantation for the Reductor Curse is Reducto." Josh explained, probably not giving anyone time to notice his wand had slipped from his pocket and pointed right at the professor's desk. It reduced to ash behind her, leaving Josh with a satisfied smirk.

"And that is the effect of it." He added, his eyes moving to the professor. If she believed teaching at Hogwarts was going to be easy, she had another thing coming.

Violet listened as the older Slytherin boy, who she knew to be names Josh answered the question for the Reductor Curse, and then went on to demonstrate it on the teacher's desk. Violet was slightly amused at his boldness.

Once he was finished his explanation and demonstration, Violet answered "The Revulsion Jinx's incantation is 'Relashio' and it's used to force someone to let go of an object, or to repel someone or repel an object." she explained "You just aim your wand at the object, say the incantation, and the light should be purple,"

PostSubject: Re: Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years   Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years EmptyFri Jun 20, 2014 6:42 am

"The incantation for the Reductor Curse is Reducto."

"Correct, Mister Murray," Lucelia commended, turning to look at the rest of the class in anticipation for another response, when she heard the blond speaking again. She narrowed her eyes and listened, sliding gracefully out of the way of the spell and chuckling lightheartedly to herself, waving her wand and repairing the desk in an instant. "Hilarious, sir, but not I don't recall asking for a demonstration. Nonetheless, ten points to Slytherin for- how do you say... inginuity."

A Hufflepuff spoke up, then, and the witch spun on the spot to look at her. Much younger than the boy who had spoken before her, yes, but still equally as bright by the sounds of it.

"You just aim your wand at the object, say the incantation, and the light should be purple,"

"Very good, Miss Lynch. Very good indeed, ten points to Hufflepuff," the Norwegian spoke, smiling at the young girl. "Right, everyone, on your feet if you please." With another wave of her wand, she brought similar dummies to the ones she had grown so fond of at Salem to the arena of the room, putting them a few metres away from each other and chaining them up to the wall. She charmed them to pull against the restraints, and once released they would move around in their little segment of the room.

"You will each stand ten yards away from your dummy. You will wait until I say, and then cast the two spells we have learned today to release and destroy the dummy. It may seem easy, but the best defense against any spell is a dodge, and these things won't hold back. Do not aim for each other, you will be in a straight detention and you will lose house points. Am I perfectly clear?

"Begin."

PostSubject: Re: Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years   Dueling, Lesson 2(technically) - All Years EmptyFri Jun 20, 2014 7:09 am

Natasha was excited to start casting the spells. She stood up and walked over to one of the dummies, taking out her wand and aiming at it. Release and then reduce to dust. Simple enough, though she did hope it would be a little bit of a challenge.

"Relashio" she said, and the chains of the dummy released, dropping it to the floor. Immediately, it seemed the dummy began to move around, staying within its segment of the room, and Natasha tried to aim, tried to find a pattern in where it moved. Though it seemed completely random, she'd have to try her best.

"Reducto" she cried, and a pretty good first attempt it was, whizzing right past the dummy's head. Again, and that time it was nowhere near the dummy. But, as they say, third time's a charm, and she managed to hit the dummy, the spell barely brushing by it's shoulder, but it did what it was meant to.

"Hilarious, sir, but not I don't recall asking for a demonstration. Nonetheless, ten points to Slytherin for- how do you say... ingenuity."

Josh had not been amused, but if the witch before her found it amusing, so be it. The points were welcome too. As the professor explained as to what they were to do, Josh merely got up from his seat and moved to the nearest dummy. A struggling dummy chained to the wall, as it were. Josh would have happily left the thing there, watching it struggle, but the instructions were quite clear.

Sadistic, even.

Let the dummy go, and then destroy it. Feed the thing false hope and destroy every last one of them. The professor was leaning towards one of the better ones for her ideas of manipulation, Josh decided, taking out his wand. "Relashio!" The Slytherin spoke clearly, watching the dummy be freed, but it was only a moment later that the dummy turned to dust, the soft whisper of the second spell far too quick for the dummy to even dart back in another direction.

Louise rolled her eyes at Josh for destroying the desk but said nothing for a while then took her place in front of one of the training dummies. It looked creepy moving against it's restraints but she waited for it to be released, wand at the ready and keeping her right foot back and turned out just in case she had to run or roll out of the way.

She released the dummy when she felt ready and cast stupify immediately after, for a few minutes she had fun blasting it back with the stupify spell, ducking back and forth then cast reducto when it got a bit too close for comfort. It didn't quite have the ferocity of the others but the dent in it's chest was enough for Louise to be satisfied. She nudged it with her foot hoping it wasn't just pretending to be down.

With the explanations and such out of the way, Cassidy moved to her dummy to test her abilities with the spells. She aimed her wand at the dummy, casting first relashio, which was easy enough for her to do. Now the difficult part, as the dummy moved around it's little square in the room randomly. The first few times, she missed. Not even close, just completely missed. But she didn't easily give up. Eventually, with much frustration, she managed to cast reducto at the dummy, reducing it to dust.

Violet personally didn't see the point in releasing the stupid dummy to obliterate it. She'd rather just obliterate it while it was still bound. If it was target practise that the teacher wanted, then Violet thought it'd be better to use a wider area, but she'd manage. She lazily aimed her wand at the dummy, murmuring 'relashio'. And as it hit the floor, immediately cast 'reducto', not giving it a chance to move around. It was far too easy, and she considered it a waste of a lesson.
