The Journalist's/Media' Handbook
which covers almost everything you need to know about having a job in media here at HAF

A new job opportunity has opened up at HAF that involved media work. It sounds like really fun work, and it is, with different jobs you can take on within journalism. Below I've added different kinds of jobs that are encompassed under the term "journalists".

First of all come the genres of media, there's the usual Daily Prophet with news. At the Daily Prophet you work with newspaper print. Meaning that hard news that are published specifically for British audience. Those are distributed everyday, and a name in every household. Unfortunately, the Prophet does not seem to have a lot of journalistic integrity, it has been known to be more concerned about sales than about factual accuracy.

Another form of genre comes magazines. From the previous magazines such as Quibbler to fashion. The Quibbler publishes odd articles, including conspiracy theories and discussions of imaginary creatures. If your interest lies within this quirky magazine then go for it. There is another form of magazine being the glamor magazine. At the moment run by Marie Holmes. Mode (meaning fashion in French) holds glossy pictures of celebrities, models, everything that's in and out and popularity. Its headquarters lie in the fashion capital of the world, Paris, and is distributed internationally making it the biggest distributed magazine. The magazine tries to gives internships to young people that are interested in journalism, but between the glitz and glamour lies forward thinking not just in clothing, but in their article pieces. Yet despite their forward thinking, there is always gossip and fascinating pieces of anything important in society. If you wish to make your own magazine, you need to keep in mind what kind of magazine you want to own and a brief description of how it is different. Remember there is no such thing as clean publishing, everything is sprinkled in a bit of gossip.

Within Journalism, it encompasses models, usually ranging from teens onwards to adulthood, as well as photographers. If there is a passion of taking pictures of all kinds, you may find a career under this branch. As a journalist/photographer/columnists, it is important that you do write. You may make topics IG or post up an interesting article about someone/something. (Remember that if you write about a character that is not your own, contact the handler for permission.) Feel free to have fun in this career and do not stifle yourself.

This is an ever growing field. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. But please remember that this is a job/internship. There is no exact age limit, but late teens is always preferable.

Sincerely yours
