Victoria Newbury's Homework for Lesson One

So, I'm going to set you a bit of homework. I would like for you to write a short paragraph on Nicholas Flamel and his work, and why he was significant. The text book should be sufficient.

Nicholas Flamel was born in 1327 and died in 1992. His long life is down to his creation of the Philosopher's Stone, it may also be known as a Resurrection Stone, though that is debatable. Nicholas Flamel used the Elixir of Life to preserve himself for six hundred and sixty five years along with his wife, Perenelle Flamel.

The stone was never noted to make Flamel wealthy, but many who knew of the stone tried to obtain it for personal uses. It is a highly dangerous magical object, as seen when Voldemort took power in Britain, trying to get the stone to make himself live longer (perhaps thinking it would make him immortal as opposed to extending his life?)

Flamel placed the stone in Professor Dumbledore (Headmaster of Hogwarts at the time) care, and it was later destroyed because of the danger it caused. Nicholas Flamel and his wife died soon after.
