DADA - Lesson Three (Group Four: Victoria, Natasha & Allegra)

Today's class will be in the form of a maze, as you may have already guessed. The objective is to reach the middle past four different obstacles. Each obstacle will be given once you complete the one before, and the team will only be able to move on through a team effort.

It should be noted that this lesson will not be marked based on perfection of characters, but marked solely on development and realism of the writing.

Every team member will be given up to FORTY points for participation (you will be marked separately so work hard!), being TEN points maximum for each stage.

You are welcome to explore characterisation throughout, and PM each other or myself with questions and ideas you may have.

If, at any point, you are having difficulties with the task, you need only point your wand to the sky and shoot sparks and you will be removed from the task.

Your first task: Get through the attacking bush into the clearing beyond. It will try to bind you, and stop you from getting through. What the bush is, is down to personal preference, and how you defeat it is up to your group.

As soon as Victoria had seen her best friend, a smile of reassurance had touched her lips, Victoria knew that after their last lesson, Allegra had been unsure about coming again. Victoria had promised her that no matter what, Jake would never let them get hurt by anything in the classes. But to make sure her best friend was okay, Victoria had held her hand the moment she was close enough, making sure Allegra knew she had support.

The explanation on what they were going to do made Victoria grin, she was so excited for the adventure. She hadn't been on an adventure in so long, it was almost as if Jake knew. So when they were put in to groups, Victoria was so glad she was with Allegra, and of course, the Ravenclaw they'd been teamed with.

Waving Natasha over, Victoria listened to the first set of instructions from her brother and then looked to the opening that was before them. Or, at least, was kind of open to them. Before them stood a plant that Victoria knew almost instantly, and in knowing what it was, it made it much easier to defeat.

"That's a Venomous Tentacula, the best way to get past it would be to use the Severing Charm, it's unfortunate, but it's the only way we're going to get through..." Victoria explained, taking a deep breath. "I... can't perform that spell. Can one of you two?" She asked, looking from Allegra to Natasha.

Holding on to Victoria's hand Allegra felt somewhat comforted, but still slightly tenative. Her anxiety grew to horror. Hurt a plant? There was no way Allegra could do that, she could almost feel the plants pain at having its appendages just...chopped off.

"Not the only way," she raised her wand and regarded the plant with a soft expression, "Diminuendo" her voice flowed melodically, holding the spell until the plant would barely even fill her frail hand. It looked harmless, but to be safe Allegra raised her other hand to add to the next spell, which was one she'd learned in Mexico to create small, contained terrariums around small plants, "Contengo el medio ambiente..." Glass formed around the tiny plants and now they were safe to pass.

Witha sheepish grin she took Victoria's hand again. "Alright, let's keep going,"

Natasha walked over to her group and listened to the first task that they would have to complete. She was rather excited for the lesson, and to complete some of the tasks, seeing as she'd never really done anything like this at all. Victoria, her teammate, identified the plant and a way to get past it, though the idea to the Hufflepuff must have seemed undesirable, considering the deep breath she had taken, ant the asking of the other two to perform the spell.

Allegra, the other Hufflepuff had a good idea of shrinking the plant. And Natasha had to admit, she wouldn't've thought of that. "Good idea," she said quietly once the girl had finished performing the spells. It was much better to simply do that then to unnecessarily impair the plant, especially since it wasn't a life or death situation, but rather just a class task. And if there's a more peaceful route to solve things, people should embrace that route.

She walked past the small, enclosed plant into the clearing, wand drawn as she anticipated the next task.

Congratulations, you passed the first stage!

Task Two: As the group (or only one person) rounds the first corner of the maze, a fireball flashes across the front of them. After stumbling back to the safety behind the corner, the group/person checks to see a turtle-like crab creature. Heavily jewelled and shooting fire from it's rear end in fear of an attack.

Beyond the first are two more, moving in to position to add more fire than the first.

Think fast, and don't hang around too long once you have the answer, not even the strongest of freezing spells can defeat these creatures for long!
