Family Dinner (Chara)

Another tedious dinner, another day of her complying to her parents will in every aspect tonight. She was a recent graduate and her parents had decided to host an intimate dinner. So meaning that only fifty people would attend the dinner, it would be a cosy one. Mycroft had been invited, minus Teagan and Rhian and he'd politely refused instead leaving all the spotlight towards Tess.

That bastard Tess thought as she pulled her dress up and zipped it comfortably. A little black dress was perfect for a night in and a pair of wedge heels to keep her comfortable. Sliding a small slip in her hair she moved a part of her bang from her face that framed it and was ready to head downstairs.

Smiling softly at the staff, she walked downstairs to see that there were already guests there. Putting on a fake smile she began to greet them with an air kiss on each cheek to avoid ruining her makeup and their own.

As the eldest child in her family, she was more than expected to join her parents - it was her obligation to ensure she never missed a dinner. To be honest, she found them time consuming, and, depending on the company, boring, which meant it was almost always boring. The ones she enjoyed - or more aptly put, the ones she found the least dull - were family dinners, because then at least she didn't need to be so constantly focused on how she appeared and relax just a little more than usual. So, when her parents informed her of a upcoming dinner with the Holmes, Chara was not overly worried, instead focusing on picking one of the many dresses she owned.

Deciding on one of her favourites, she slipped on the dress, pairing it with a pair of silver heels, only a few inches off the ground. There was no point it going all out with the height, since it was only a small gathering of fifty or so family members.

Arriving on time - which actually meant early - Chara separated herself from her parents as they moved to the other adults in the room. Instead, she lingered around those her age, thankful that her siblings had been left at home under the charge of a nanny; she did not much enjoy having to be their ward during any kind of social events. With her polite smile turning ever-so-slightly into a genuine one, she noted her cousin making her rounds. Approaching the ex-Slytherin, she air kissed as was the only correct way to greet someone, and asked, "How are you doing?"
