Christmas Time Part 1 Empty
PostSubject: Christmas Time Part 1   Christmas Time Part 1 EmptyMon Oct 06, 2014 9:36 am

Marilyn awoke on the 24th of December as she usually did; late and in Jake's arms- or rather, cuddled up to Jake, holding one of his arms around her in a sleep-fueled attempt to keep him from getting up. In fairness, his resistence was more playful than anything else, and it always brought a smile to her lips when he relented and let himself be pulled in to another kiss and another cuddle.

This morning was no difference, "Merry Christmas, Jake," she murmured, eyes still closed but awakening, "For my culture, anyhow." Mari added in afterthought, rolling onto her back and rubbing her eyes to wake up more. Taking a deep breath she opened her eyes with what she hoped wasn't a too disgruntled expression.

Marilyn didn't like Christmas. She could no longer associate anything pleasant with the holiday and now that she'd fought so with her grandparents she wouldn't be spending Christmas with them either. Since her birthday Gwen had written, formally apologizing to both her and Jake and saying that she was still trying to get Evan to come around, that Marilyns happiness came first and that she had no reservations against Jake. But also that coming around the house wouldn't be wise now. Not, yet.

Marilyn had been overwhelmed with mixed feelings; relief that she shared with Jake, that Gwen accepted him, but also dread and a terrible knot in her stomach that Evan was still shutting everyone out. Gwen was openly appalled at his behavior and accused him of abandoning her when she needed them so much still, but this Marilyn didn't know about. She simply dreaded the oncoming holiday and the inevitable displays of family affection that would be all over London, leaving her holed up in her flat, unable to properly cope with them.

She'd gotten gifts for the Newburys, despite not telling Jake for sure if she'd join him or not, but giving him very specific orders to give them her gifts when she wasn't there. That little cause of anxiety she very much wanted to avoid. But there were good things, she supposed, Jake was spending the day with her, they'd picked up a tree for the flat and some decorations so they'd be doing that, and they also wanted to try baking christmas cookies despite limited kitchen abilities on both parts. It would be fun, Jake had said, so Marilyn just went along with it. There were worse things, she thought with a smile as she stretched her legs along the bed.

Christmas Time Part 1 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Christmas Time Part 1   Christmas Time Part 1 EmptyMon Oct 06, 2014 10:32 am

Christmas holidays had come, and as usual, Jake had taken the days from the twenty-fourth of December through to the New Year off. Only this year, he truly got these days off, and didn't have to carefully monitor what he was eating to send back to a Quidditch coach. He'd told Marilyn that he had the time off, of course, and added he would be back in America for a number of those days, to see his family, and then head up over the border to see his old team mates who had a party planned.

But for the other time, if she wanted him, he would spend it with her. Not to mention, of course, that she could come with him if she so pleased.

He'd spent the last hour or so dozing and going through everything he had planned as he waited for Marilyn to wake up. The witch would always sleep in late though, he was aware, but he didn't mind. He'd lost his arm to being her teddy bear at some point in that hour, and the young man had simply used it to pull the witch closer, pressing a light kiss to her shoulder.

"Merry Christmas, Jake," she murmured, eyes still closed but awakening, "For my culture, anyhow."

He had been quick enough to correct the witch in that moment, and thankfully he hadn't as she explained to him. "Happy Christmas." Jake replied softly, as the witch tried to wake up, bringing a small smile to his lips at the childlike manner in which that worked. "Sleep well?" Jake asked, opening and closing his hand to get the feeling back in it where the witch had been holding it too tightly whilst she slept.

"I'll go and start breakfast whilst you get ready, hmm?" He asked softly, leaning in to kiss the witch gently. "Well... lunch, seeing as someone didn't want to get up!" He added, teasing her lightly as he stole another kiss and slipped from the bed, pulling on the pair of jeans he'd been wearing the night before and a clean t-shirt from his bag of clothes. "I'll see you in ten, no going back to sleep!"

With that, Jake left the room, turning on the radio (possibly a little louder than necessary) as it blared the Christmas classics. Jake's spirits were always high around Christmas. What with his family all being together, and the season making it almost impossible to be grumpy. As he entered the kitchen, Jake slipped his wand from his pocket, flicking it towards the cupboard where Jagger's food was kept and filling the bear-like animal's bowl. After that, Jake checked the fridge, noting the bacon and eggs and pulling them out. If he remembered rightly... ah, yes! There were some soft rolls, so Jake decided on bacon rolls with a fried egg in it too - just to be messy, but Merlin it would taste good. Flicking his wand again, the kettle set to collecting water for tea as he concentrated on the cooking.

Perhaps not perfect, but Jake was slowly getting better at the domestic work that he shared with Marilyn when he was over.

"Slept great." she murmered, kissing him back and playfully swatting at him as he teased her about her sleeping habits, missing because she still didn't want to open her eyes. "I'll see you in ten, no going back to sleep!" A soft groan was her only response as she sighed and crawled out of bed, fixing her hair into a half-updo with a pink bow and slipping on a comfortable dress and slippers, walking into the kitchen with a creased brow, following the rather cheerful christmas music that was blaring through the apartment and raised an eyebrow at Jake, who was singing along to 'All I want for Christmas'.

"You're so cheesy," she grinned, pushing her sleeves up to her elbows, the glint of her bracelet catching the sunlight, and hopping up to sit on the counter, applying her nail polish after leaning down for a kiss, quickly magically drying it and setting the bottle down and looking at him from where she sat, swinging her legs slightly.

PostSubject: Re: Christmas Time Part 1   Christmas Time Part 1 EmptyMon Oct 06, 2014 3:32 pm

Jake had simply chuckled as she swatted and missed him before he left, intent on food because he was starving. Well, more hungry than he liked to be, should he say. The radio was playing all the usual Christmas songs as the English got ready for the big day the next day. Jake was happily singing along to each song without hesitation.

Marilyn had entered the kitchen just as Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas' came on to the radio, and Jake could only chuckle at the irony as he flipped the bacon over and put it back in the oven.

"You're so cheesy,"

"Radio!" Jake called over the music, checking the eggs as he danced slightly on the spot, until the killer line came. "All I want for Christmas is you..." Jake sang, moving from the pan for a moment to kiss the witch on the lips fully. It was true, Jake rarely wanted for anything, so the best thing Marilyn could get for him was herself, he'd need nothing more.

As the song finished, Jake was putting the final touches on their breakfast, putting in the sauce Marilyn wanted as instructed before presenting her with the roll that was more than likely to make a mess as the egg yolk broke in the roll. "For you!" He told the witch, going back to his own and biting in to it hungrily and letting out a very contented moan as he savoured the taste. "S'wo gwud!" Jake told her through a mouthful, remembering the drinks and moving to pour Marilyn a drink and bringing it to her a moment later. Breakfast was almost always his grounds, and Jake wouldn't deny that he was getting very, very good at this.

Smiling as he sang to her Marilyn rolled her eyes, but enjoyed the kiss happily, trying to keep him there but unsuccessfully, as he had to finish breakfast. Which consisted of breakfast rolls that, while delicious, were also messy. Marilyn being the lady she was flicked her wand to levitate napkins, a knife and fork and proceeded to enjoy her breakfast in a cleanly manner, still sat on the counter.

The witch did have to set it down to laugh at Jake's muffled praise of the food. It was very good, indeed, but of course Marilyn could only eat half. Chuckling at Jake's messy face she pulled him closer, napkin in hand, "Come here, you big goof." Marilyn dabbed at the egg on the corner of his mouth and then 'cleaned' his bottom lip with her tongue. "There, much better." The witch chuckled, taking a drink from her glass but keeping Jake where he was with her legs.

It was so difficult to be in a bad mood or grumpy when Jake was like this, his joy was simply contagious. Speaking of grumpy...

"Jagger!" she called, the bear of a dog happily trotting in, "Close your eye, love." Jagger stared unblinking,"Oh nothing's going to happen to be if you close it for a second, come on." The dog complied and Marilyn accio'd his gift. A grumpy cat doll with a red bow around the neck, holding it out for him she told him to open his eyes, "Something to play with when we're busy today, happy christmas, boy." Jagger lit up and nuzzled against her waist on the counter before carrying off his new toy gently to his spot on the couch.

As Jake finished his breakfast (honestly, it hadn't touched the sides, but it had been amazing!) Marilyn pulled him towards her, dabbing at his face with a napkin, which simply meant he'd missed some. However, it was perhaps worth it with the 'kiss' he received from the witch a moment later before she concluded everything was okay. "Are you going to eat that?" Jake asked in regards to the part of the sandwich she'd left, seeing as he couldn't leave because Marilyn's legs were wrapped around him. He didn't mind, here had two of the best things, food being one of them, Marilyn the other.

Jake ate carefully, making sure not to spill any of the egg on the witch, a difficult feat, but one the boy managed. Once he'd finished, Jake used a napkin to wipe his face and hands before wrapping his arms around the witch and holding her close. "Too much food." Jake mumbled as she gave Jagger attention, Jake not really paying attention to the situation because he was comfortable.

"Something to play with when we're busy today, happy Christmas, boy."

Jake let a small smile grace his lips at that comment. "Tree first, or baking?" He asked softly as Jagger departed, leaving them alone once more to do the things they'd planned together.

"Are you going to eat that?"

"Nope, but it was great." she kissed his cheek, "Thank you, my master chef." the witch teased lightly, but genuinly smiling, meaning the compliment. Jake was certainly better at cooking than she was, Marilyn had to admit that to be honest, he also seemed to like it more than she did. So that would probably be a contributing factor towards the differences in their domestic capabilities.

Kissing the top of his head when he pulled her close Marilyn gently lifted his chin with two fingers to give him a soft, slow kiss. "Tree first, or baking?" Mari thought for a moment, her hands playing through his hair as she mulled it over, "Hmm...tree. Tree first. Haven't done that in years." she remarked, kissing him again, her legs still not letting him go though, enjoying the embrace too much to go just yet.

"Thank you, my master chef."

"Welcome." Jake replied softly as he tucked in to the leftovers from the witch. It always worked this way, Jake tidying up the witch's plate so that there was no waste, and hopefully to make her feel better in the knowledge that she didn't have to feel guilty about leaving some of her food.

"Hmm...tree. Tree first. Haven't done that in years."

As a soft kiss was pressed to his lips, Jake smiled, holding her close to him. She wasn't going to let him go, it seemed, so Jake simply lifted her, holding her against him and taking her in to the living room to the tree besides the sofa. "You've got to let go to decorate the tree though." Jake reminded the witch, kissing her and gently letting her down so that they could start decorating. For Jake, this was always Victoria's job, so he was used to watching, only being of use when she needed to reach the top of the tree.

"What would you like me to do?" Jake asked, guessing that Marilyn wouldn't be the same in regards to the tree.

"You've got to let go to decorate the tree though."

"Mhm." The witch kissed him back and let him set her back on her feet, smiling up at him before looking at the boxes of decoration, "Do whatever you like, really, like I said I haven't done this in ages. I think the lights go first and then the ornaments." she remarked, bending over to fish out a string of lights out of the box and trying not to get tangled in them, handing him half and starting to wind it up the tree, letting him do the top because he was, slightly, taller.

Decorating the tree was fun, even Marilyn was swaying slightly to the christmas music, tucking the lights in and eventually adding little dark green and gold ornaments, the couple exchanging kisses here and there. And when the garlands were fished out Marilyn had used a red one to pull over Jakes head to pull him closer and plant a sweet kiss on his lips. Which was also a great photo opportunity so she flicked her wand towards the camera on the table so it would take pictures of them, laughing and kissing and fooling around with the decorations. Creating happy memories.

"Do whatever you like, really, like I said I haven't done this in ages. I think the lights go first and then the ornaments."

Jake nodded in confirmation, he'd watched Victoria so many times it was untrue. Lights first. Taking the other half from the witch, Jake moved to decorate the top of the tree, putting the lights over the branches carefully. They could, of course, have used magic to make all of this look nice, but making the effort was definitely the best way to do these things.

When the lights were done, Jake happily took some of the ornaments and placed them (rather unsystematically, and much too close to each other at times) on the tree. Marilyn had moved them subtly as she moved to kiss him, never commenting but he noticed that the witch wasn't quite happy with the way he'd done it. Jake didn't mind, if it got him kisses, misplacement of ornaments was worth it. After a short while, the tree (despite not being Victoria perfect) was starting to look festive, and Jake was admiring it slightly when Marilyn trapped him - off guard - with a garland, pulling him down for a kiss which he gave up happily.

Jake's arms had wrapped around the witch happily, pressing light kisses to her lips, chuckling in between kisses as he sang along to the radio, until they were swaying in time with the music. As the music subsided to the DJ, Jake pulled the witch in to a longer kiss before mumbling that she should put the garland on the tree, not him, before slipping from her grasp to get his own to hang on the tree.

It was another ten minutes before they finished, standing a small distance away to admire their work. "Happy Christmas." Jake whispered again as he smiled at the witch, kissing her forehead. "Time to bake now?" He asked, leading her back to the kitchen. Jake took his wand out as they entered the kitchen, sending the plates and frying pan from breakfast to clean themselves before heading to the cupboard for the ingredients. "Can you look out the recipe for us?" Jake asked as he pulled the flour out of the cupboard.

The small, sweet kisses turned into one long one and Mari heard the camera click a few times, sighing happily, foreheads close together, smirking at his mumbled words and humming contently, pressing a last kiss to his lips before they finished off the tree, cuddling up to him when they admired their work.
"Happy Christmas."

"Feliz Navidad," she murmured, smiling at the kiss he pressed to her forehead, nodding in answer to his question when they walked up to the kitchen, Marilyn one step ahead, perched on her seat on the countertop flicking through the cookbook. "Hmm, gingerbread men?" she asked with a grin. "We'll need to make frosting, too, ah there's a recipe here for that, too."

As the final kiss ended with a click of the camera, Jake smiled at Mari. Perfect was quite possibly exactly this moment - or as close as he was ever going to get to it, anyway. The witch mumbled something in a language Jake didn't know, and like he always did when there were other languages in the air, Jake simply pretended to know what she'd said.

Once they were in the kitchen, Jake simply chuckled as Mari took her seat on the counter again, leaving him to collect the ingredients and then wash his hands. The mention of gingerbread made him nod. "One of my favourite!" Jake told the witch, moving to look at the cookbook with her. "You want to work together, or shall I make the gingerbread and you make the icing?" Jake asked the witch, nod minding either way. "Or do you want to read the book, and I'll bake and you can do the bits you want to help with?"

Turning back to the ingredients, Jake pulled out the scales and got a couple of bowls so that they could measure out the flour and other ingredients.

"I can start on the icing and then help you with what still needs doing, how's that sound?" Marilyn grinned and gathered the ingredients to make different colours of frosting, making one bowl dark green, dark red and white frosting. Luckily, it didn't take much skill to make frosting, nor much time, so soon the witch had three bowls of frosting, taste testing one on the tip of her finger and mhm'ing at the sweetness.

'It's not unusual' starting to play on the radio and Marilyn danced around to it, still holding one of the frosting bowls in her hand, taking some on another finger and sneaking up on Jake, dabbing it on his nose and laughing at how cute it looked, slowly but playfully backing away.

The notion that he should make the gingerbread was one that Jake accepted with a small nod, concentrating on the recipe as he worked meticulously on the gingerbread. It took some work, first getting the breadcrumb texture that it asked for, and then carefully adding the eggs and golden syrup whilst keeping the right consistency. Once again Jake realised how well Victoria coped with all this, but he didn't comment.

He'd just finished the dough, wrapping it in cling film and putting it in the fridge when Marilyn put icing on his nose. Jake simply raised an eyebrow at her antics, wondering just why she thought that was a good idea. "You'll lose!" He teased softly, lifting his hand to his nose and wiping the icing away. Shaking his head, Jake tidied away the ingredients away in a ploy to distract the witch.

Because in reality, he'd simply made a beeline for the flour, and after taking a handful of the powdery substance, he turned back to Marilyn and threw it at her, laughing as it hit her chest and sprayed outwards from that direction. With a smirk on his face, Jake cocked an eyebrow at Mari wondering how she'd come back at him now.

"You'll lose!"

"I never!" She laughed, letting him move to tidy, not letting the bowl out of her hand. What took her by surprise was the flour attack, well, 'took her by surprise' she could see him moving for it but a)she was holding the bowl she didn't want to drop and b) there'd be no plausible explanation for her quick reaction. So the white powder collided with her chest with a squeak, dusting her neck and shoulders as well.

Quick to fight back she grabbed a handful of sugar and throwing it into his hair, grabbing a spoon and flicking red icing at him, laughing and trying to evade his antics until, to save icing, she made a dash for the sink to splash him, semi-successfully, since she succeeded in turning the water on but he caught up to her and she ended up splashing them both.

"I never!"

Jake was quite certain she would, especially when the squeak came when flour hit the witch, covering in a white dusting that made him grin. The sugar that came back at him made the young man chuckle, grabbing more flour and sending it back Marilyn's way. Of course, he ended up covering himself just as much, because flour was not easy to throw, but it was fun.

As the icing hit his shirt, Jake grabbed the bicarbonate of soda and threw that in the witch's direction, only just seeing through the combination of powders that the witch had darted for the sink. Jake was right behind her, being relatively close by the time the witch had thrown the first amount of water. But she'd made herself an easy target as Jake stood behind the witch keeping her in place as he splashed water at her, knowing the reactions of water with both flour and bicarbonate of soda. He soaked himself in the process, but Jake didn't care as he soaked Mari.

Only as he moved away, did he notice the white t-shirt he'd picked starting to go see-through. But he didn't bother with that, grabbing more flour and throwing it Marilyn's way. Laughter was quite evident in the air as they continued, Jake collecting just as many ingredients as Marilyn until they were both covered head to toe in sticky mixtures of flour and sugar. Leaning against the counter, Jake put his hand up in surrender, allowing the witch this win because he couldn't breathe from laughing so hard.

"You win!" Jake managed between breaths, shaking his head slightly at the mess they'd made.

Another shriek of laughter left the witch as her boyfriend pinned her to the sink, and the baking soda reacted with the water and started foaming in her hair and her dress and she decided to hold him close as well to get some of the foam on him, laughing too hard to want to do much else and also to keep herself from slipping in the mess they'd made.

"You win!"
"I always do," Marilyn chuckled fondly, wiping some flour from her face with a kitchen towel before walking up to him and gently wiping across his mouth before kissing him deeply, her hands resting where his chest and shoulders met, gently massaging him. "You could win a wet Tshirt contest" she murmured. Of course, she couldn't really talk, her dress was light pink and clinging to her, not much better. But the witch could still appreciate the view, always did.

With the foam all over Marilyn, Jake was laughing as she rubbed it in to him. Of course she would, he mused to himself as he held her, quite conscious of the mess on the floor that was probably becoming more dangerous than fun now. With the game coming to an end, Jake simply allowed Mari to come closer, enjoying the closeness as she wiped his mouth and then kissed him. A smile graced his lips at that, before a soft laugh left him at her words.

"I've won lots of those in my time." Jake teased softly at her comment, stealing another kiss from the witch as he pulled out his wand and non-verbally tidied everything around them. "However, I have gingerbread to finish!" He reminded Mari, peeling himself from her grip and moving to the fridge for the mixture.

It took another hour for them to finally finish cutting, cooking and icing the gingerbread men, but the end product was most certainly worth it. Yes, they weren't perfect, but Jake was very, very glad that they'd done it. They'd shared one, seeing as neither of them were overly hungry after the large breakfast, and then Jake had muttered something about a shower.

A good idea, Marilyn had called it as she followed him.

But all that Jake could say was that it had been the best Christmas Eve he'd known. And little did he know that it was going to be even better later that day.
