Coming back to Salem after the attacks was quite the experience for Jake. It had been a difficult summer helping with the rebuild of the school where he could. Professor Finn had insisted on completing the work and sent Jake back off to work. A lot of things had changed, knowing that Victoria would no longer be around made the young man a little unenthusiastic to come back to the school, but he had a job to do.

Sitting against his desk, Jake waited for the class to fill up. The board already held the name of today’s lesson. “Aqua Erecto” was shown in Jake’s untidy handwriting. The classroom was once again devoid of chairs, making the room easier to work with.

This time, Gillian arrived first to the DADA classroom. she enjoyed the familiar layout of one of her favourite, even if harder, classes at school: a class room emptied of all desks but the professor's, and that anticipation lingering in the air.

She smiled at prof. Newbury and greeted him shyly; "good morning professor" the girl said; she still found it awkward to talk with some people, specially when she had as much respect for them. Without knowing what else to add, Gillian moved to one of the sides of the class room, to lay down her backpack and put on it's side the small bundle/notebook she made out of parchment during the summer and a quill.

She knew they never wrote anything in this class, and it was always practical and hard stuff, but she just couldn't help to have something to write down stuff at hand in case anything happened, and she actually managed to spare some time during the class.

Alec walked into the DADA classroom. He had a very uneventful summer. Alec was usually stuck at home while his Dad did other things. This did give him a lot of time to read but not much else. He sighed as he remembered how many times his Dad didn't keep enough food in the house. There was always a steady supply of Firewhiskey though. Alec smiled at the professor. "Hello Sir." He said and walked to the back corner of the classroom. Alec prefers to not interact socially with other classmates.

The holidays had been very, very interesting, more than Janique could have ever imagined. It was not by her own choice, therefore, that she entered class with a genuine smile on her face. DADA was an interesting subject, but it was not the class that was exciting her. Stepping into the room, she let out a small sigh; the one person she wanted to be there had not yet arrived, and it was a given that she was just very slightly disappointed. Making her way to the side of the classroom, she leaned against the wall. Letting her bag drop to the floor, she turned to nod a greeting at their Professor, voicing a, "Good morning."

The days lesson was written on the board behind the only desk in the room, and Jani spent a few moments trying to recall what it was about before it came to her. This should be interesting, she thought, switching her attention to the doorway as she waited for Callum to arrive.

As three students entered the room, Jake smiled at each of them warmly, even if they did insist on not using his first name as he'd asked on so many occasions. "Good morning everyone. Welcome back for this year. I hope you all had a good summer."

Jake stood from his leaning position, checking his watch momentarily and then deciding to crack on. "Okay, so if you haven't already noticed, today's subject is Aqua Erecto. Can anyone tell me anything they know about the spell? One fact each."

Aphrodite made her way to DADA and knew she was a little later then she should have been. The Belladonna walked into the classroom right when she heard him ask a question. She smiled politely because she felt guilty for being late. "I apologize for being late and Aqua Eructo is a Charm that conjures up water" Aphrodite answered. She didn't know if Jake would be mad at her or not but she just kept up with listening so she knew what was going to be learned from then on.

The late arrival of Aphrodite was allowable given the fact she apologised straight away. "It's okay, Aphrodite, just try to be on time next time." Jake replied to the witch with a small smile. When she elaborated on the subject, Jake nodded at her answer. "Correct in your answer, five points to Belladonna!" He replied with a warm smile.

"Now the size of the jet of water depends on concentration, so for today I will only be expecting a fine flow from you, but the stronger you can get the spell, the better. As you will see behind you there are targets, if you can hit the jet in the middle of the target it fills the water bottle. To those who are successful, there are vouchers for Caramelpop's sweet shop for the next visit, and to those too young, I will give you written permission to be escorted down to the shop with the Caretaker, though you can't stay I'm afraid." He explained, hoping an incentive might help them a little.

"You merely need to point your wand and say the incantation. Remember the key is to focus on your objective for a better result. I will be walking around and aiding those who need it or have any questions, please begin."

The lesson started, and before Janique could answer, some late Bellodonna girl sauntered in and gave the right answer. Rolling her eyes, she waited for further instructions. Vouchers for some sweets was of not much value to her. In fact, she couldn't care less about candy, but the lesson was interesting enough.

Turning her attention to the target, she took out her wand and took her stand. Pointing it directly at the middle of it, she muttered, "Aqua erecto." A dribble of water trickled out of the end and she huffed impatiently. Trying it one more time, she was slightly more pleased to see a thin stream shoot out and make contact with the target. She watched as the bottle slowly filled.

It wasn't good enough for her, but muttering the spell again did nothing to increase the pressure of the water, and with a shrug, she just waited for the amount she had to fill the bottle.

Ares tried his best to slip into class without being noticed, he heard his sister answer and get points for it and then they had to work on the spell. He then knew that his lateness would be found and just decided to come out of the dark. He gave an apologetic smile to Jake before he grabbed his wand and began to work on what he was told to do. "Aqua Errecto" nothing happened. He looked at his wand confused before he decided to try again. "Aqua Errecto" water shot out of his wand and hit the target, he watched as his bottle began to fill up with water. He felt successful for this.

Watching as the first two students moved in to place, Jake noted how one was quite excited, and the other possibly less than interested. He knew this spell wasn't for everyone, but it most certainly was a useful one!

Moving towards the Nightshade first, Jake held out the voucher to the witch. "Well done on completing the task!" He told her happily. "If you'd like to try and get the jet to be more powerful, please do try again, but you may leave if you're happy with your progress!" He told Janique before moving towards Ares.

"Well done, Ares!" Jake told the boy as he completed the task, once again slipping a voucher from his pocket and holding it out towards the boy. "You can continue if you like, if not, feel free to head off for lunch early!"

Ares looked at Jake when he told Ares that he did a good job. Jake held out a voucher to him and he gladly took it and smirked, he put his wand away and nodded to Jake. "Okay, I'll see you next time Jake, have a good one" Ares said as he grabbed all of his stuff and left out the door. He couldn't believe that he had actually succeeded in doing the spell before his own sister. That was one for the books.

Alec decided to give the spell a go. He had no idea how he'd do but it was worth a shot. Alec positioned himself in front of a bottle. "Aqua Errecto" He muttered. When nothing happened Alec was a little discouraged but knew he should try again. "Aqua Errecto" He said and imagined water coming out of his wand. It worked and started to slowly fill the bottle. Once it was full he smiled. Maybe he's not as bad at magic as he thinks.

Rose walked in late. "Sorry Sir, I'll be on time next time." She said and watched her brother try to fill a bottle up with water. She gulped. Rose has never been good with water but she great with fire. Once Alec had finished she stood in front of a water bottle. "Aqua Errecto." She whispered and nothing happened. After a few more attempts Rose still hadn't done it. She wanted to give up. "Aqua Errecto." She said as a last attempt. Water slowly came out of her wand. Rose concentrated a bit more and managed to get the stream to go in the bottle. The bottle filled slowly and when she finished Rose looked over at the professor.

"Okay, I'll see you next time Jake, have a good one"

"Good bye, Ares." Jake replied to the boy as he left. Despite some teachers having protests about the pranks from the Wormwood, Jake didn't see that the boy was that bad. But, Jake turned his attention back to the class. Noticing that another Wormwood was giving the spell a shot, Jake moved over to him, taking out another voucher as the boy finished the assignment. "Well done, Alec. Here's a voucher for the sweet shop, use it wisely!" The professor explained before motioning for the boy to head off.

Finally, Jake moved to the last student in the room, one that was late but had apologised. Watching the witch take her turn, Jake smiled. "Well done, Rose!" Jake told the witch, passing her a voucher. "You may leave now." He told the witch with a small smile, turning his attention to the room.

"Okay, everyone, that's time. Please practice in your own time if you haven't yet completed the spell, and I'll see you next lesson." Jake told the class, dismissing them with a small smile on his face.
