DADA - Lesson 3 (Years 3, 4 & 5)

After the last lesson being something relatively serious, Jake decided that this lesson would be slightly better. Hopefully the students would enjoy this lesson much more. Making sure the room was devoid of any desks and chairs once more, Jake turned his attention to the board.

Picking up a piece of chalk, the professor wrote the word "Levicorpus" on the board. It would give the students an idea of what they would be doing. Taking a seat on top of his desk, Jake waited for the students to show.

Skipping down the halls, Victoria was all to familiar with the notion that the holidays were closing in on them. Which meant that her exams were getting closer for her O.W.L.S. The witch had already spoken to Professor Finn about taking the exams early, and the Headmistress had told her that so long as she performed well in classes, she couldn't see any reason not to.

With that in mind the witch pushed the door open to Defence Against the Dark Arts to see her brother. With a warm smile that she knew he needed, the witch moved towards the front, putting her bag on the floor by her feet. "Morning Jake!" The witch greeted sweetly, waiting to see who else would be joining them.

Callum rather enjoyed DADA classes because they were practical skills that were learnt. It was one of his favourite classes, besides Alchemy. He made his way down the hall, book bag slung over his shoulder and then entered the classroom "Professor," he acknowledged as he moved to stand next to Victoria at the front "Vic," he nodded to her.

Annie felt nervous about this class, this was one class she couldn't fail, this class was a very and most important class, it will help her out in the future someday. Annie pushed the doors open and walked straight in, the young Nightshade smiled kindly. "Hi" she greeted to all of them. Annie couldn't fail this year at all or slack, this year was too important.

She could practically skip to class but she didn't, Aphrodite pushed the doors open to DADA and stepped into the room, she lightly closed the door behind her before she took a seat. Aphrodite gave a smile and a wave to Jake. "Hey Jake" Aphrodite was excited to know what would be learned even though it was on the board, she didn't care.

Jake smiled as his sister entered the room, replying with a soft "hi" of his own just before the next person came in and made a beeline for his little sister. It took Jake a moment to remember he was a professor, trying not to overthink the situation, despite it's innocence. The next person in was someone new to his classes and he smiled warmly at the witch. The final person to enter, Aphrodite decided to sit on the floor.

"No need to sit down, Aphrodite, we'll be starting soon." Jake told the witch, checking his watch and seeing it was time to begin. "Right, lets make a start, today we are learning about Levicorpus, can you each tell me one thing you know about that spell?" Jake asked, looking around the group to see who would be the first to answer.

OOC: Jake's classroom doesn't have chairs or desks unless otherwise stated. Next game no points will be given to those who don't acknowledge this fact.

When Callum entered the room, Victoria's smile lit up just a little bit more. She liked the Nightshade, he always seemed to be so nice, and it was proved that the feeling was somewhat mutual as he moved to stand beside her. "Hi Callum." The witch replied softly, not wanting to talk too much in case it annoyed Jake.

Though, the witch needn't have worried as the class began quite soon after, making her smile at her brother in an encouraging manner. The question had the witch's hand shooting up straight away in the usual fashion. Once called upon, the witch paused only for a moment. "The Levicorpus spell is used in duelling situations, the effect of the spell is hooking the person by the foot and lifting them up, effectively putting them upside down."

With her answer given, Victoria looked around to see who would answer next.

"Correct you are, Victoria!" Jake told his little sister with a grin, looking around the class to see if there was anyone else willing to give some answers. When none came, Jake decided to press on. "Okay then ladies and gentlemen lets press on. As I'm sure you've studied this spell in other classes, we're going to adapt it more. You're going to partner up, Victoria and Callum together. Aphrodite and Annie the other pair.

"What I would like for you to do is try to get one another lifted by the ankle. You will also need to defend yourselves from attacks. Only the Shield Charm and the Levicorpus spell should be used, but when you're ready, please begin."

Sierra walked into the classroom of her final class of the day and saw on the board the Levicorpus spell. She knew how to do this spell, so she was excited. She watched as everone else was paired up, and she was left alone. She nervously raised her hand, "Um, Professor. It seems I am without a partner."

"Um, Professor. It seems I am without a partner."

And lacking in manners, Jake finished in his head as he took the witch in. Unfortunately she had to be from his house, but Jake didn't believe in favouritism. "You are, yes. But first, next time you're late, have the manners to apologise." Jake told the witch. "Five points from Belladonna. Join Aphrodite and Annie for this lesson, please."

Sierra looked down rather ashamed and embarrased by her actions, "Of course, professor. My apologies." She blushed a dark shade of red and hurried over to Annie and Aphrodite. "Hi girls." She had already met Aphrodite, but she had not yet met Annie. "I'm Sierra. So who would like to go first?"

Aphrodite was met with knowing that her partner was Annie. Aphrodite walked over there to where she was and smiled. "Hi Annie" right when she greeted Annie, another Belladonna walked in and she recognized the girl to be Sierra. When Jake put her with the two girls, Aphrodite gave her a smile to greet her. "Annie, would you mind her going first or would you like to? Or I could?"

"Annie can go first. Do you want to raise her or me?" She could go either way. She didnt really care to be lifted in the air at all, but she had to for a grade. She didnt want to dispaoint Jake anymore than she already had by being late. SHe looked around at the other students being lifted and cleared her throat nervously.

When the task was explained, Victoria looked up to the boy next to her with a warm smile when they were told they could work together. Victoria was very happy with that, she had to say. Callum seemed nice, and competent in the work they were doing.

"Are you ready to give this a go?" The witch asked excitedly, taking her wand from the holster on her belt. She was quite sure they weren't going to hurt each other, hanging upside was always fun, after all.

Annie smiled at Diem. "Hey Diem and hello Sierra" she greeted to her teammates and then she heard she was getting lifted first. "I don't care who goes first but please, neither of you drop me" she said nicely. She really didn't want to get carried off to the hospital wing because she was dropped on her head after a spell gone wrong. The young girl seemed nervous and Annie just remained calm.

"I can do it." She took out her wand and pointed it at Annie. "I promise I will try my best not to drop you." She held her wand tight and said the spell, "Levicorpus." She watched as Annie was lifted into the air because of her. She was nervous and scared that she would drop her. But she calmed down and kept her cool.
