Course Title: Poisons & Antidotes (First Semester)
        Mind Training (Second Semester)

Instructor: Mycroft Holmes (Qualifications to teach: At age sixteen he fought the Second Wizarding War on the side of Dumbledore’s army. Comes from a well known family of Aurors and politicians within the Ministry. Made his own name known as one of the youngest Aurors at age 19. Retired at 25 to begin teaching Potions & Dueling in both Hogwarts & Salem. Became Headmaster at 26 and currently the incumbent of the position in Hogwarts.

Course Duration: Each will be 5-8 weeks each (IRL: Depends on progress)

Course Aimed Towards: Aurors and Healers.

For Aurors to grasp the concept of logic and potions integrated in their field work. And for Healers to see the various situations they could be facing if they chose Healer fieldwork.

Course Overview: This courses will be split in two parts because they are both different yet connected. For the first part we will be dealing with poisons that one might encounter on field & in the hospital wings. The qualifications for this class are to receive an E at minimum in advanced potions in your undergraduate career. If you did not receive and E or above, you will have to take a placement test and letter of recommendation from your professor. The reason this is asked is because I will not have people slow potentially advanced students behind. This course is advanced and will be treated as such. For Poisons & Antidotes we will begin the first week talking about situations that you might find yourself involved in whether on site or off, and what would be immediate reactions. Whether a future healer or a future auror, what is important is to sharpen the mind for situations. The second week, we will begin potion-making based on common poisons (magicial & not) and how to prevent/cure them and throughout the weeks advance to others.

The second half will deal with the body. We will be taking Occlumency and Legilimency to a new level by building walls to your mind, but also how to break them. We will start with certain concoctions that will help with the mending, but it’s important to know that a background in meditation will be recommended (but not enforced) because it will advance you nicely. This is a Pass/No Pass class and if you fail you will not receive credit and will be forced to retake it.

Attendance/Grading: Each half of the class will be a total of 50 points, for at total of 100 for the end of the school year. If you fail the first half then you will be removed from the second semester and will be forced to retake it. Attendance is at your discretion, but pop quizzes are possible and if attendance is taken there could be repercussions  that will show once you receive your grades. The reason attendance isn’t enforced is because this is your future and if no one shows up will continue to run.

Be mindful that this is considered an advanced course with requirements that while you might fulfill but will be challenging. Have an open mind, and a willingness to learn and you might pass the class.

Outcome: You will be given qualifications of basics of Potions & Antidotes, and Mind Training that will give credit to professional qualification profile.

OOC NOTE: This class is for the upcoming semester (August RL) because we want the new graduating class to take part as well. But sign ups are currently open to get an estimate of which current graduates are interested. If you have any questions, please PM me (Tess).
